Architects of Play.
One-of-one custom playrooms that transport young minds. Designed by artists, developed with architectural discipline, finished by hand, and delivered seamlessly from our New York factory. For luxury homes, multifamily buildings, schools, hotels, play cafés, indoor playgrounds, and other imaginative spaces.
Other playrooms are just furniture: packed flat, screwed together, replaced at first crack. We architect ours: drafted in CAD, framed with glulam beams, joined with structural connectors, and finished in repaintable millwork. When a room this beautiful refuses to break down, it becomes every child’s favorite hand-me-down.
Multifamily amenities. Pay-to-play venues. Schools. Retail attractions. Designed to engage and built to operate, it’s an investment that plays out.

Whether it's the house your kids grow up in, your lakeside escape, or the Airbnb that books out every weekend - we build the playroom that belongs there.
Explore Residential →A 5-6 month path from first call to first play.
It always goes to plan:
A typical playroom passes through 4 hands: a designer who can’t build it, a fabricator who didn't draw it, a GC juggling 15 other jobs, and an installer seeing the plans for the first time. Our projects don’t leave the studio. One team designs, builds, finishes, and installs it. What you approve in CAD is what your kids enjoy in 6 months.
30–45 Minutes
Whether you're a developer scoping an amenity, a designer briefing a build partner, or a family designing the room they wish they grew up in, we start here: a working call to understand the space, the kids who’ll use it, and the goal.
1–2 Days
A written design proposal arrives in days, outlining the scope, timeline, and design fee. Sign it and design begins. The deliverables are yours either way, so you leave with something tangible in hand.
4–6 Weeks
You get floor plans, full 3D renderings, and a video walkthrough you can share with anyone whose opinion you value. Two revisions included. Nothing goes to engineering before you stand inside the room onscreen. Because the smartest change is the one we make in the render.
1–2 Weeks
Every item is priced on its own. No lump-sum mystery, no surprise change orders. You see exactly what you're paying for, item by item, before anything is ordered.
4–6 Weeks
Includes full shop drawings, material specs, and structural calculations where needed. Every load path engineered, every finish repairable, every fastener hidden. Glulam beams instead of dimensional lumber. Structural connectors instead of pocket screws.
10–14 Weeks
Each piece is cut, framed, painted, and upholstered in our New York factory. The designer who drew your room connects with the shop floor daily, checking details, adjusting finishes, and ensuring the space is to spec.
1–3 Weeks
We handle every install logistic: shipping, onsite crew, and final placement. One team sees it through to punchout, so the room that arrives is the one you approved.
Three rooms, three clients. Three spaces no one will mistake for a catalog. Tap any render to see how the vision came to life.
Our team hails from fine art, illustration, and architecture, bringing an eye for composition rather than catalog trends. Every room begins as an original immersive design: a world with its own logic, custom millwork, sightlines for parents, and scale that feels right to kids. It remains part of the family story, long after the playdate.
Our architects and structural engineers work under one roof. Every room is drawn from scratch and engineered before the first board is cut. Nothing out of a catalog, only original work built for the space it lives in.
At our working shop in Maybrook, NY, every room is cut, joined, painted, and packed by people we know by name. One place, one team, with full control from first cut to final crate.
Every surface meets California’s commercial fire codes, including foam, upholstery, paint, and primer, whether local jurisdiction requires it or not. Every structure is designed and reviewed against ASTM standards for public‑use playgrounds and soft contained play, and is fully CPSC compliant. Documentation available.
Our finishes are factory applied, never rolled on, and held to the same standard as high‑end millwork. Each piece is sprayed in a controlled booth, sanded between coats, and remains fully repairable years later. Because we build exclusively indoors, every finish can be executed and maintained at that level.
We frame with glulam, connect with Simpson Strong‑Tie hardware, and eliminate any exposed fastener a child could reach. Every structure is engineered for years of heavy kid traffic, not just a social media photoshoot.
Our founder is a dad. The people drawing your room are parents who wanted what they're building now. That's not a marketing line; it's why we notice things vendors don’t. The corner a toddler runs into. The sightline a parent needs from across the lobby. The five minutes a leasing tour gets to impress. The way Sunday afternoon unfolds in a home with kids. We can't capture that on a spec sheet, so we embed it in the room.
See our process →We started kidandcad because nobody was building the rooms we wanted for our own kids. The reason was structural: most playroom companies are a design firm that subcontracts the build, or a fabricator that subcontracts the design. We're both. The designers drawing your room and the carpenters cutting it share a parking lot. Engineering, fabrication, paint, upholstery, install logistics, every step lives under one roof, run by people we know by name.
One designer leads your project from the first call to the final walk. Same person, the whole way. No handoffs, no subcontractors, no version of your room that nobody on our team has seen.
Projects start at $150 per square foot, all-in, with most rooms landing at $50k and up. Complexity, themed environments, and structural ambition all push higher.
